The Madden Curse

Madden 11 is Nearly upon us as it comes out on August 10th. As Madden 11 comes out so does the madden curse. Anyone who hasn't heard about the madden curse is not a true football fan.

The Madden Curse

Since 2002 the cover boy of Madden NFL video Game has had their worst career season.

2002-Daunte Culpepper- He led his team, The Vikings, to the play-offs a season before hand but after being featured on the cover of Madden NFL 2002 he threw 23 interceptions and slumped to a 5-11 regular season record and also broke the record for most fumbles in a season.

2003-Marshal Faulk- After appearing on the cover of Madden NFL the success of the St Louis Rams declined. Marshal Faulk didn't register another 1000 yards rushing season.

2004-Micheal Vick- The Quarter-back which everyone wanted, at that time, broke his leg in a pre-season game and was out for the first 12 games of the regular season. Then in 2007 he was involved in a dog fighting scandal and spent time in jail, he never returned to himself.

2005-Ray Lewis- Ray Lewis's season was cut short in week 15 after an injury to his wrist it also was the first ever season in his career which he did no get one interception.

2006-Donovan McNab- He tore an ACL ligament in a game against Buffalo while jumping out of bound. He suffered from a sports hernia in week 1.

2007-Shaun Alexander- The reigning NFL MVP at the time sustained a foot injury which kept him from six NFL starts that season. Due to loss of starts his running stats were hurt quite a bit and never returned to his true form.

2008-Vince Young- Vince Young seems to be a bit of an exception to the curse. He missed one regular season game due to a minor injury and the rest of his season was on a par with his previous season. But should it not have been better now that he was a sophomore Quarter-Back?

2009-Brett "The Legend" Favre- Favre had anounced that he was retiring but later he decided to come out of retirement and play for the NY Jets. The jets missed the play-offs with a 9-7 regular season record after starting the season 8-3. Favre in hes last 5 games of that season threw only two touchdowns and nine interception. Not his usual self is it.

2010-Troy Polamalu & Larry Fitzgerald- Troy Polamalu Sprained this ACL in the first half of the season opener and missed the next four games. After those four games he returned to face Cincinnati at Paul Brown Stadium and injured his posterior ligament and missed more games as a result. Fitzgerald on the other hand had no injury, started all 16 games and had a pro bowl appearance.

The next victim

Fresh of a Superbowl win New Orlean Saints Quarter-back is the next in line to the curse as he is on the cover of Madden NFL 11. Will he be the exception?!?!?!?!?
